    A group of Iranian researchers and students based outside the country have criticised America's policy towards Iran in the recent round of talks which completely ignores the issue of violence perpetrated by the Iranian authorities and consider it a green light for Tehran to continue oppressing the Iranian people:

    One again, Mir Hossein Mousavi put emphasis on the “networks created in cyber-space” which have been “very effective” in the absence of balanced and independent media. He also stressed on the importance of the “social networks behind these cyber-space” which are “less vulnerable.” “The members of these centres have given the movement an active nature and have given us hope about the effectiveness of these groups.”

    Members of the Medical Society, who themselves had been active members of the reform movement during the reform years of Khatami, expressed their gratitude towards Karroubi for standing firm in defence of the rights of the people who have suffered greatly or were detained after the elections following the election unrest.

  • 18) A Town Hall Meeting to Denounce Murder, Torture, Rape, and Forced Confessions in the Islamic Republic of Iran   (07:47 AM)

    Systematic repression by the Islamic Republic has now become so explicit that even Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader who is chiefly responsible for these crimes, has acknowledged the widespread torture and murder of Iranians at Tehran University’s dormitories and Kahrizak Detention Center. The military and paramilitary forces of the Islamic Republic have openly murdered Iranian citizens. But instead of putting those responsible for these crimes on trial, the security apparatus of the Islamic Republic has arrested, incarcerated, tortured, and raped the brave men and women of the country while holding them in solitary confinement.

    148 of Iran’s notable poets and writers have expressed their disapproval of the violence acts perpetrated against the Iranian people in recent months. The statement expresses discontent towards the “injustice committed against the people especially the youth of this country” during recent months. “Concealing [the truth about] this tragedy by anyone is an injustice towards human dignity and paves the way for the perpetrators to repeat this tragedy,” the statement continues.

    Mir Hossein Mousavi, the main reformist candidate in Iran’s presidential election of June 12, has issued a new statement explaining how he envisions the future and the role that the “Green Path of Hope,” the movement that he is founding, can play in it. The strongly-worded statement accuses Ayatollah Khamenei — without naming him — and the hardliners of distorting Islam, violating the Constitution, destroying morality in society, and forgetting the ideals of the 1979 Revolution, the most important of which was political freedom for all.
