In an extraordinary measure, the governor of the city of Kashan in the province of Isfahan has announced the closure of 235 schools from now until the 6th of November. Students have also been cautioned not to come out onto the streets during this period.

A brave Iranian student has openly criticised the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a formal annual meeting held between the leader and various intellectuals and academic figures on Wednesday.

It seems that heavy sentences for those jailed following the presidential election in June are yet to continue. According to unofficial reports, Ahmad Zaidabadi and Kian Tajbakhsh have been sentenced to 7 and 12 years in prison respectively.

The outspoken opposition leader and Chairman of the National Trust party, Mahdi Karroubi was attacked at an international press fair as he was welcomed by his supporters who were expressing their admiration for the veteran politician.

A short midlevel cleric, with a neat white beard and a clergyman’s calm bearing, Mehdi Karroubi has watched from his home in Tehran in recent months as his aides have been arrested, his offices raided, his newspaper shut down. He himself has been threatened with arrest and, indirectly, the death penalty.

Just hours ago, a prayer service held for the release of Seyed Shahaboddin Tabatabaei and other political prisoners, was raided and more than a dozen people were arrested. Among the arrested were relatives of those already in prison.

I never thought Behnoud Shojaee would be executed, considering that in the presence of a number of popular activist artists, the family of his victim agreed to forgive him.

The Iranian human rights lawyer Shadi Sadr has won the 2009 Human Rights Defenders Tulip for her courage in championing the human rights of her fellow citizens. Foreign minister Maxime Verhagen will present the award in The Hague on Monday 9 November.

According to a recent report by the Iranian opposition website rahesabz, authorities in Iran have decided to take serious measures against financial operation carried with banknotes that carry messages in opposition to the coup government in Tehran.

After successfully reclaiming al-Quds day which was used for many years by a certain radical grouping within the state as a platform to take advantage of the Palestinian cause for their own ends, the Iranian opposition is eagerly anticipates the 4th of November as another day for reminding the coup government that the issue of the elections is far from over.

One of the most despised figures in Iran these days is none other than the head of state-run TV and radio, Ezatollah Zarghami. His role in facilitating the election coup in June 2009 was instrumental and his organisation’s performance following the election unrest has made him a much hated personality among ordinary Iranians.

A Sharif University official has said that some of the students who staged a protest in front of the central library of the university last Tuesday will be summoned by the disciplinary committee of the university.

Mohammad Reza Naghdi is a name that consistently comes up when we talk about the post-election violence in Iran. His role in the violent student clampdowns in 1999 is not exactly a secret to Iranians either. His name is infamous with illegal arrests in places like Kahrizak and Vesal prisons, in addition to the torture of political activists. Even though Naghdi was sentenced to three months in prison for his criminal past, recently he was appointed as the Commander of Basij forces by the Supreme Leader. Naghdi, alongside other criminals and torturers, has been promoted despite his horrendous track record, which compelled us at Mowjcamp to have brief look at Naghdi’s dark past.

After 45 days of imprisonment, the family of Dr Mohammad Maleki, the first ever president of Tehran University after the revolution released a statement in which they expressed concern about Dr Malek’s condition. He had already been battling with several serious illnesses.

According to the official website of a reformist faction in the Iranian Parliament, ParliamentNews one more newspaper was shut down yesterday.

A group of Iranian researchers and students based outside the country have criticised America's policy towards Iran in the recent round of talks which completely ignores the issue of violence perpetrated by the Iranian authorities and consider it a green light for Tehran to continue oppressing the Iranian people:

A senior U.S. official urged Iran Thursday to take "concrete and practical steps" to address international concerns about its nuclear program during the highest-level meeting between the two countries in three decades, diplomats said.

One again, Mir Hossein Mousavi put emphasis on the “networks created in cyber-space” which have been “very effective” in the absence of balanced and independent media. Behzad Nabavi, one the most senior figures in the reformist camp and member of the Organisation of the Moujahidin of the Islamic Revolution has been taken to Baghiyatallah Hospital in Iran, due to hernia related complications. He is scheduled to undergo surgery.

“In the last century, our people have had many socio-political gains, however they were all reliant on fighting; these gains would live on until only this atmosphere of struggle and effort and fighting existed, but they would perish as soon as people became tired or assumed that they had to go back to their homes. Fighting is a sacred thing, but it is not lasting. What is lasting is life.

It seem that there is no end sight for the cases of fraud and plagiarism in Ahmadinejad’s illegitimate cabinet. Another case of academic fraud has been revealed about Ahmadinejad’s Transport Minister after 2 more such cases had already surfaced with regards two other ministers in his cabinet.

An article published on the website nature.com on September 23rd raises serious questions about the possibility of plagiarism by Iran’s minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Kamran Danesjou. Mowjcamp had already raised serious question about the authenticity of Daneshjou’s academic certificates; question which have yet to be answered by authorities.

Thousands of Iranians have traveled to New York by chartered bus, plane, automobile, and bicycle to demonstrate against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and support human rights in Iran.

Between 4000 to 5000 demonstrators gathered today in New York to protest Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s presence for the 64th annual UN General Assembly. Also last night a smaller group of Iranians gathered in front of the UN where a short film was projected onto a human screen.

The 64th annual session of the UN General Assembly will be held tomorrow, a time for the leaders of 195 countries and Ahmadinejad to gather in New York. Systematic repression by the Islamic Republic has now become so explicit that even Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader who is chiefly responsible for these crimes, has acknowledged the widespread torture and murder of Iranians at Tehran University’s dormitories and Kahrizak Detention Center. The military and paramilitary forces of the Islamic Republic have openly murdered Iranian citizens. But instead of putting those responsible for these crimes on trial, the security apparatus of the Islamic Republic has arrested, incarcerated, tortured, and raped the brave men and women of the country while holding them in solitary confinement.

Fars News has published the results of a poll of the Iranians’ opinions on a number of issues, including the controversial presidential elections. The pool is done by “World Public Opinion“* and seems to indicate that over 80% of the Iranians consider Ahmadinejad the legitimate president of Iran.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), which is affiliated with the coup government, admitted that the death of Mohammad Javad Parandakh was due to the conditions in the prison where had been detained.

Last week Norooz Website published a report about the abduction and maltreatment of an 18 year-old daughter of a political prisoner Java Emam. After the report, her abduction received a great deal of media coverage and forced the religious core of the conservatives to react.

Allameh Amin is a senior Lebanese cleric who has been a constant critic of the position of Veleyat-e-faghih or the Guardianship of Jurists (who is currently Ayatollah Khamanei).
