According to an Iranian opposition weblog set up for the freedom of Iranian journalists from prison the cells lack heating, clothing and enough blankets. In his last contact four days ago, Bahman Ahmadi Amouie had spoken of the deterioration of his health and a fever which is a cause for concern as some of his family members have already contracted swine flu.
It is said that the reason for Amouie’s transfer to solitary confinement is his telephone conversations with his wife regarding the harsh conditions in prison and the lack of much needed medicine. In the last 10 days, close to a hundred political prisoners including those arrested following the elections unrest have been moved to ward 350 of the notorious Evin Prison. This ward lacks the basic requirements for a prison ward such as hygiene and other necessary care.
Earlier this week, a group of families of political prisoners arrested after the Presidential elections wrote a letter of protest to Judiciary officials regarding the inhumane conditions in ward 350.
