Student demonstrations at the Azad University of Ahvaz on 4 November led to the closure of the University and recent measures taken students are seen as means for deterring students from taking part in the upcoming demonstrations on 7 December. The summoned students have been threatened with long-term suspensions and expulsions.
More than 50 students from the Azad University of Najafabad have also been summoned by University officials for taking part in the 4 November protests.
The Iranian opposition movement is planning massive rallies across the country in opposition to the current illegitimate government on 7 December (Student Day) and such desperate measures against students are seen as attempts to prevent a march like that of 4 November from taking place.
