The Iranian students who marched against Nixon’s visit had already been infuriated by the role of the CIA in orchestrating a coup d’état against the democratically elected government of Prime Minister Dr Mohammad Mosaddegh on 18 August 1953. Nixon's trip to Iran in December 1953 provoked students at Tehran University to stage protests which were crushed ruthlessly like today.
Every year, Iranians remember the tragic events of that day on Student Day and this year will be no exception as Iranians will join hand in hand to voice their opposition to another coup, with the difference that this time the coup has been instigated from within the country and not by foreign powers.
Iranian universities have always been at the forefront of the struggle for freedom and justice and this year’s much anticipated demonstrations on December 7 promises to be no different. Students from across the nation will once again take to the streets on 7 December 56 years after the American backed coup of 1953.
Threats, beatings, imprisonments, torture and murder have only strengthened the resolve of Iran’s sons and daughters as proven time after time in the many demonstrations that we have witnessed until now. The nationwide marches on 7 December shall once more reveal to all how weak and fragile the base of Ahmadinejad’s government really is; a government that always manages to find the same solution to all its crises: suppression.
And there are already signs that the Ahmadinejad and his murderous gang of thugs are uneasy about the Green Movement’s planned show of force on 7 December as student after student is summoned by the “disciplinary committee” of their universities with the hope of causing enough fear and terror among students that they will suddenly forget about the horrific events that have unfolded in the past six months.
However the dream of turning Iran’s universities into indifferent and obedient institutions at the service of the current administration will never be realised.
The 7th of December is another occasion when we will wear our green wristbands, scarves, shirts and masks as we have done regularly in recent months. One more occasion when Iranians from all walks of life turn green for their country, and inject new life into their Green Movement until the next round of demonstrations when again we shall flood the streets to remind the authorities that we have not forgotten about their clumsy coup in June and their even more desperate attempts in trying to cover up their unspeakable crimes.
Ever since its conception our noble movement has relied on the people of Iran and no one else for support.
Thus, we would like to ask all visitors to our website to send us all your great ideas, picture, posters, video clips, songs, etc. We promise to do our utmost to publish your brilliant ideas.
Our reunion will be on the 7th day of December when once again we will all be victors.

7 December; another push towards freedom in Iran
56 years ago when students from the University of Tehran mobilised to protest the unholy alliance between the former dictator of Iran and the US and a state visit by the then vice-President Richard Nixon to Tehran, they were met with violence which led the death of three students. After 56 years, the fight continues.
